Turquoise Trail Pack Burro Race

Still a relatively new tradition, Cerrillos celebrated the Turquoise Trail Pack Burro Race. Cerrillos is a quaint western and an old mining town. It sets the perfect backdrop for the burro race in the scenic Cerrillos hills.

The town also hosted an Art Event.

It was great to see many people cheer the start and finish. The whole town was busy, and it felt good to be a part of it—happy and smiling children and adults. The main actors, the donkeys, were quiet and didn’t mind getting a hug or being petted.

I met a few people who decided on the spot to do the race next year. I had a similar idea. Wouldn’t it be fun to be joined by a sweet burro on this run.

A cold beer and enchiladas with Christmas (green and red Chile) at the Black Bird Saloon in town would end the day. Sounds perfect.
